I thought I would talk about how I got the idea for the book and how it evolved.
I got the idea after watching the BBC production of North and South (with Richard Armitage as John Thornton). I was particularly inspired near the end, where Margaret becomes John’s landlord after she inherits land and money. I thought it interesting and different that a woman had financial independence and power over an industrial figure. So, my story idea developed from there.
Of course my hero was turned from a Mill Owner into a Civil Engineer, and my heroine into a member of gentry who inherited her estate. But the essence of the idea, was in that spark.
The original title of the book was “Robert Adams” and if you want to know why, get a copy of the book and all will be explained. However, my publishers felt that a more commercial title was needed to be more appealling to readers. So after many different ideas, we settled on “Love Engineered”.
